The Beth Ditto Fashion Collection
In December of 2015 the fabulous personality that is Beth Ditto announced an impending collection that got the fashion world talking.
Getting some of the biggest names in the industry to collaborate such as Jean Paul Gaultier, Katie Grand and Ezra Petronio, the collection was always going to be fabulous.
Revealed this week and launched globally, it did not disappoint.
The campaign features Barbie Ferreria and Philomena Kwao, both front and centre in the new wave of outspoken plus size models.
The eleven-piece collection is available in UK sizes 18 – 32 and was launched globally on BethDitto.com and with Selfridges in the UK, the collection celebrates beauty at any size.
Featuring the most beautiful combination of colours, fabrics and cut, the collection has a distinctively vintage feel to it that makes each piece feel classically stylish. It’s both simple and fun, rich with character and charm.
Focusing on the shape of the curvaceous female body, the tailoring of the collection creates streamline silhouettes whilst oozing glamour.
Says Beth: “I wanted to make pieces to last years. Beyond trends, beyond chain stores. I wanted to create something all its own, something just for us, made with love and consideration.”
The clothes capitalise on ethical creation processes which Beth describes as, “uncompromising, unapologetic, and timeless.” They are “go-to pieces designed to last. A movement by us, for us.”
By starting the collection at a UK size 18 the collection pushes boundaries in the fashion industry and acts as yet another beautiful exemplar of why the art of fashion design should not be limited by size.
What the design team behind this collection have managed to do is both aesthetically stunning and charged with positive messages in a time of industrial change. It says that you can be beautiful and fashionable at any size or shape. It embodies a message synonymous with the current desire for change.
Watch this space for yet more and more incredible plus size design to come. We cannot wait.
One last beautiful dress before you go…
